About Mildgate Paper Arts
We started Mildgate Paper Arts to give makers a steady, structured path to refined, heartfelt cards. Our team blends studio experience with systems thinking so each lesson moves from concept to reliable execution.
Our story
The name “Mildgate” signals our culture: measured, methodical, and welcoming. We refined checklists and diagrams while teaching small in‑person cohorts; those materials became our online programs with the same calm rigor.
Mission
To help creators build durable craft skills: clean edges, balanced compositions, and smooth finishes—without stress or false urgency.
Teaching principles
- • Evidence‑informed techniques with clear constraints and measurable outcomes
- • Minimalist workstations that reduce friction and keep tools in consistent places
- • Small, achievable projects that sequence complexity gradually
- • Feedback loops: reflection prompts, checklists, and peer critique frames
Lead Instructor — Aria Kemp
Aria systematizes cardstock behavior and finishing workflows. She designed our fold‑stability protocols and embossing matrices.
Design Mentor — Soren Vale
Soren focuses on color systems, type pairing for sentiments, and structural balance using a 12‑point composition grid.
Technique Specialist — Mina Cho
Mina leads surface techniques: watercolor washes, heat embossing safety, and precision die‑cut alignment.
Quality Assurance Protocol (QAP)
Before a course is published, it must pass clarity, repeatability, and safety checks. Each syllabus includes material tolerances, drying intervals, and clean‑up schedules.
